Let’s continue my stories. We continued our journey on foot, since my friend told me that the temple we wanted to visit were close each others. Our next visit was Yasaka Shrine. It was only about 500 meters from Chion-in temple, and maybe only took for about 15 minutes. Between those, there is a park, Maruyama Koen (park).

This park could be called as public stage, since many street performance showed their ability. There was an American guy who sang Japanese songs with his guitar, an acrobatic attraction, and many more. The scenery was very beautiful. This park lies below the hill, with colorful leave on autumn. This park usually will be crowded in spring since there are Hanami (cherry blossom festival) when the people enjoying sakura. This place is a favorite place to enjoy the beautiful sakura while gathering with families.
Across the park we could see the gate of Yasaka Shrine; it was made by wood, red in color, and very unique. This gate is the characteristic of Japanese shrines. Yasaka shrine was made in 656. This shrine is also called ‘Gion Shrine’, since it lies in Gion district Kyoto. This district is also famous as a centre of Maiko San (Geisha) in Kyoto. The shrine consist of few buildings; the gate, the main building and a stage.

In Kyoto there is an annual festival which famous around the world; the Gion matsuri (festival) on July 17th. In this festival mikoshi (a shrine miniature) is paraded all around the street in Kyoto city. It is believe that this ritual is a prevention way of epidemic caused by the anger of kamisama (Susano-o-no-Mikoto) one of the goddess in Shinto religion.

After looked around and took pictures, we continued our journey to Kiyomizudera temple a Buddhist temple which is also known as one of the world heritages, the same as Borobudur temple in our country.
